Airline Miles Trading

What is the best way to use US AIRWAYS miles?

I have a some US Airways miles and was going to use them at points.com. However, it appears that US Airways is not one of the best merchants to trade with as I would only get a $10 or $25 gift certificate for stores for lots of miles (as opposed to other airlines). It almost seems like that you cannot get anything for your miles with them. I would appreciate any suggestions as my miles would expire soon and I was not planning to flying with them for some time.

I know United Airlines allows you to use your miles to purchase stuff at their store. Go to US Airways’ website and see if they have the same type of store. Otherwise go to Points.com and see how many miles it costs to trade in order to get say an Amazon gift card.

Another option is to apply for a US Airways credit card and keep the account active so you don’t lose your miles. You also get 1 mile for every dollar you spend.

If none of these suggestions sounds appealing and you feel you will lose the miles, go ahead and donate them and then take them as a tax deduction on your taxes.
