Multiple brokerage accounts?
Can anyone open an account to say "Scottrade and Ameritrade, as their name and SS #, then go to another city and open another account at another office & Scottrade Ameritrade with names of friends and SS # and finance these from a acoounts single bank account. While the friend to buy and sell direct, if necessary.
Your friend must open the account. If you open an account in his name, you break law. If your friend has agreed to do so, he would have to include gains / losses on her tax return. Would he do? If you want multiple brokerage accounts, why not open both in your own name? This can be done and it eliminates all the potential problems of having an account on behalf of another person. And you can do in your city. You can even have multiple accounts with the same broker if you wish or use different brokers.
