(UK)Was on Parkers car website and i notice it says prices to expect from Franchised and Independant dealers?

I didnt know you could go to either a franchised dealer or independant dealer and ask them to buy your car without it being a trade in? I am checking here first before i make an idiot out of myself lol.
I was going to phone up my nearest V/W dealer and arrange to take the car in as i thought it would be safer to deal with a company rather than trying to ensure i dont get done with a private buyer. I dont see a safe and secure way to take payment that way.

VW dealers will be happy to give you a price for a late model VW even without a trade in.
