Carbon Credits Trading Companies

Would China use Cap & Trade to shut down specific US companies-say UAW companies?

China could buy up carbon credits, and then sell them to their home companies and friendly US based companies. They could then shut out UAW controlled companies. How is that for Machiavellian strategy? That paves the way for China to expand their auto production with non-union plants into the USA.
First up, you mean stop scheming. I think there are way to rip off this cap and trad scheme-legally-for my own enrichment.
second up-regulations? Now won’t that cost money and drive up inflation? Who regulates it the SEC and IRS? Have they been scammed?

What! That can’t be!

Carbon Credit

Carbon Credit

$106.74

Carbon credits are a key component of national and international attempts to mitigate the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs). One Carbon Credit is equal to one ton of Carbon. Carbon trading is an application of an emissions trading approach. Greenhouse gas emissions are capped and then markets are used to allocate the emissions among the group of regulated sources. The idea is to allow market mechanisms to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emissions or less carbon intensive approaches than are used when there is no cost to emitting carbon dioxide and other GHGs into the atmosphere. Since GHG mitigation projects generate credits, this approach can be used to finance carbon reduction schemes between trading partners and around the world. There are also many companies that sell carbon credits to commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering their carbon footprint on a voluntary basis. These carbon offsetters purchase the credits from an investment fund or a carbon development company that has aggregated the credits from individual projects. In Carbon Trading Law and Practice, author Scott D. Deatherage provides practitioners with a comprehensive practical guide to the US and international practice of carbon emissions trading. The book includes a comprehensive examination of state, federal, and international climate change and greenhouse gas laws and regulations, emissions trading, international and EU law, other reduction programs, carbon credit projects and financing, climate change disclosure, and the US regulatory regime for greenhouse gas regulation and emissions trading. The book also provides a detailed description of the development and current status of greenhouse gas regulations in the United States, and the current state of affairs in terms of US carbon markets. The use of market-based systems as a means of regulating emissions and other environmental pollution or degradation is a growing phenomenon. As nations and states appear to be responding to scientific pronouncements regarding the existence and causes of climate change, environmental markets appear to be one of the main tools that will be used to address greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon Trading Law and Practice provides the fundamental explanation and the underlying legal systems and issues that serve to create and sustain carbon credit creation and the trading of these credits, and a series of related legal and business issues.

Carbon Rush (Paperback)

Carbon Rush (Paperback)

$34.32

Written by award-winning documentarian Amy Miller, The Carbon Rush focuses on the real meaning of Carbon trading, where countries can buy and sell anothers` carbon emission through a system where carbon credits are traded like stocks and bonds. It is really a zero-sum formula where the amount of carbon-based pollution is not being reduced ? only moved by brokers among countries. Credits are then given which are used to bankroll huge industrial operations, many of which are ravaging both the world`s poor and their environments, many of which are aboriginal. Amy Miller goes behind this carbon formula to see what`s really happening behind the scenes, where traders are making a real fortune (literally becoming billionaires). And you will be shocked to see what`s happening in countries like India, Brazil, Scotland, Panama, Honduras, and others, where projects that are being funded by carbon offset credits are in fact impoverishing ? and killing — the world`s most vulnerable people ? and our most fragile environments. The effect: well meaning Americans and Canadians who support green endeavours and carbon offsetting have not only been duped, but are in fact helping big business polluters get dirtier and bigger and richer.
