Should I Open a Self-Directed RRSP Account with E-Trade?

I had one with CIBC but decided to close because of the 80$ fees/year and high transaction fees (25$ or 28$ for limit).

Did you cash out your CIBC RSP or did you transfer it somewhere else? Most FIs waive the fees if you maintain a certain balance in the account. Another balance threshold gets you reduced commissions.
