Washington Nationals in 2010? What do you think?
I’m not a Nats fan, or even a national league fan, but I really think the Nats are putting together a good team. What do you think they can do in 2010? With a full rotation of Jordan Zimmerman, jason marquis, John Lannan, Chein Ming Wang (might not start the season, although he passed the physical), and eventually Strasburg (might start in AAA), at their best this rotation can be on par with the rest of the NL East. Their offense is weak but Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn are a good 3-4 combo, and the trade for Nyger Morgan was a great move. Willy Taveras too, a nice add. Also, getting Brian Bruney and Matt Capps will beef up what was a horrible bullpen. What can they do in 2010?
They’ve certainly been busy this offseason picking up some established players; you have to applaud them for that. If their offense gels this year, they might actually be able to compete. I see them improving on their win total from last year, but not enough to make any significant noise in the division.
Still, management is doing the right thing in actively pursuing veteran players instead of filling the roster with unproven rookies.
