Etrade Order Types
Help with selling stocks…?
I am new to the stock market. I currently have some shares in a stock that i am looking at selling if they reach a certain amount. I am using etrade and when i click on order type i choose sell, and then it says price type and i choose limit, it allows me to put in a limit price. does this mean that if the stock gets to this price they will sell it for me automatically?
Yes, you are correct. If you are waiting for it to hit a certain price, you want a limit order. If you want to sell it at the current market price, you would click market order. So, how you explained it, you want the limit order at the price you want, and designate how long you want the order to be valid until it expires. Good luck.
