Free Stock Trading Analysis Software

What is a good charting software for beginners?

I have been reading a book about short term trading and it has good explanation of technical analysis. I am very very good with graphs since I am past calculus 3 in college and I want to start practicing with indicators and such.

Is there a free program or online site that I can create an imaginary portfolio and use indicators to practice buying stocks.

Also what types of taxes or fees are applyed to buying and selling stocks.
From what I’m hearing there is a fee everytime you buy…what is that based off of?
Also I hear that you won’t have to pay taxes on profits until you pull the money out of your account. Is this true and whats the % taken.

Hi Steve,

Suggest you try the timetotrade website, it has everything you’ve mentioned ie you can create an imaginary portfolio and use indicators to practice buying stocks. You can also set up email and sms alerts for technical setups you are looking to happen e.g alert me when RSI falls below 30 followed by a MACD crossover. http://www.timetotrade.eu

Regarding taxes, in the UK private investors are allowed to make up to £9,600.00 profit on assets we’ve sold for the 2008/2009 tax year – before having to pay any Capital Gains Tax. Beyond the £9,600.00 threshold investors are taxed at 18% on any profits made. If you are based in the UK timetotrade will work out what tax you owe.

Regarding fees you will generally pay broker commission when you buy / sell a stock. This is normally in the region of £9-13 on UK investments and $9-13 on US investments.

I hope this helps and best of luck with your trading practice!

ShortTerm Trading

ShortTerm Trading

$105.14

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Shortterm trading refers to those trading strategies in stock market or futures market in which the time duration between entry and exit is within a range of few days to few weeks. There are two main school of thoughts: day trading and trend following. In finance, a trading strategy (see also trading system) is a predefined set of rules for making trading decisions. Traders, investment firms and fund managers use a trading strategy to help make wiser investment decisions and help eliminate the emotional aspect of trading. A trading strategy is governed by a set of rules that do not deviate. Emotional bias is eliminated because the systems operate within the parameters known by the trader. The parameters can be trusted based on historical analysis (backtesting) and real world market studies (forward testing), so that the trader can have confidence in the strategy and its operating characteristics.
