What is the best stock broker?
Please speak from experience and research. Right now I am seriously considering eTrade, TradeKing, TDAmeritrade and scottrade. Feel free to mention another. I would like to know the advantages of each and why you recommend a company…

Anyone know what level two screening is? Why do I need it? Who offers the service?
I use Scottrade for the following reasons:
Excellent trading platforms.
No account maintenance /inactivity fees.
No charge for transfer out/account closing (some other brokers charge $50.00- If you set up an account and do not like their trading platform they charge you to switch to someone else).
$500.00 minimum to open an account.
Very good research sources.
Excellent customer service. (Office close by where I can speak to the Branch Manager in person if I want to).
Member of SIPC (Securities Investor Protection Corporation).
Free “GainsKeeper” software for cost-basis accounting.
Free real-time streaming quotes and charts.
$7.00 Online Trading commission for stock over $1.00/share (either market or limit orders).
For stock under $1.00/share the online trading commission is $7.00 plus 1/2% of principal (only limit orders allowed).
For comparison purposes:
E-trade’s standard online trading commission is $12.99.
T.D. Ameritrade’s online trading commission is $9.99.
