Kids Trading Cards

Is it legal for me to sell trading cards outside a card store?

There is a trading card store in my local mall, and kids go there and hang out in the hallway outside to play games like Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. I had some old cards I wanted to sell (none of which the store offered for sale anymore), so I sat out in the hallway and made a few sales. The store owner got mad and kicked me out, even calling security to show he was serious. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t own the hallway outside the store, so did he have a legal right to kick me out, or could I have countercharged him with harassment or something similar?

The mall is private property and stores pay rent to sell there. Malls have the right to tell anyone selling, and soliciting to leave.
