Quotes Trading Places
Is there someplace I can see the number of orders placed at various prices for a given stock?
I use e-trade’s MarketCaster to see streaming real-time quotes and it shows the bid size and ask size for the “current” prices (i’m not sure what the correct term is, please fill me in if you know).
I would like to see the bid size and ask size for other prices too though. Is this data available somewhere?
The information you’re looking for called “level two” quotes. It will show the dealer who is posting the quotes as well as the size of their bids and offers. I believe e-trade does provide that but I’m not too familiar with their platform to show you where to find it. I’d be willing to bet that it’s there somewhere though.
And yes, the “current” prices is correct. You can also say “market prices.”
