Trading Account Comparison

Compare Scottrade, E*Trade, or TDAmeritrade online brokers?

I have about $10-15k available to invest and have narrowed my choices for online brokers down to these 3, although im open to any out there. Can someone give me a breakdown comparison of these brokers using such variables as minimum account balance, hidden fees, best investment research tools, and overall satisfaction. In my opinion so far ive gathered that Scottrade may be cheapest, E*trade provides good research, and TD is good all around. SO imdef confused.

Scottrade is a fair/mediocre broker for the semi experienced trader. TDAmeritrade has the best tools and support of the three. Schwab and Fidelity are hands down, the best overall brokers, especially of the newbe.

Once you have a few years of experience…. check out ThinkOrSwim. Simply awesome. Best charting packages out there. Great overall for technical analysis. Best for conditional orders. Rated #1 or two by Barrons for the past three years.

I’ve used all the above brokers at one time or another (except ETrade). I’ve been investing for over 30 years & trading the past two.
