Why are there so many controversial votes in Congress taking place late at night or on weekends?
Congress seems to be making a habit lately of voting on controversial bills late at night or on weekends. Last nights Senate vote on health care was at 1 am Monday morning. The expected final vote on health care in the Senate will be Christmas Eve at 7pm or later. The vote on the Cap & Trade in the House was at 1 am. What is the reason for this?
ADAM, the bill won’t take affect for a couple of years. Why does it need to be passed before the recess? What difference would a couple extra weeks make?
Yeah – I noticed that also.
I don’t know if it is because Obama wants this passed before the end of the year, or if congress thinks working nights and weekends makes them look better, or if they think that passing this stuff at night won’t be noticed. I don’t know.
