I do most trades for a living and am good at them – I do however find it hard to price out jobs, not doing the same thing often.

I’ve done this work. If it’s just a johnny ring, then between $75 – $100 is about right. By the way, why shim? Just use plaster of paris under the rim to level the toilet.

Now, if you need to do flange work, that is a different story. This may require an oxyacetylene torch, something not usually in the tool kit of a handyman. You can then charge substantially more, on the order of $250-$300.
