Job Interview Skills Coaching: Free Job Interview Tips For College Graduates
After studying hard for more than 18 years, it’s finally time to spread your wings and leave your nest. Yes it’s time to face the world and experience reality in all its wholesome goodness.
However, before you can do so; you would obviously need a good income to survive. To get money, you would first have to get a job but this is where most people stumble. They simply cannot get a job due to their poor level of job interview skills. It’s essential to equip yourself with some training and coaching to sharpen your job interview skills to give yourself an edge compared to others.
Preparation is the key to success. Therefore, before attending an interview; make sure you do some research on the company you plan to work for. Simple things like what’s the main trade of the company might be the key to securing the job.
Before stepping into the interviewer’s office, be sure to acknowledge him/her by greeting your interviewer with his/her first name. This might win you some brownie points. According to most interviewers, the one thing that irritates them the most is fake accents. Just speak normally and casually to him/her like you would to any sane human being on this planet.
Since preparation is the key to success, one of the most important job interview skills to develop is learning how you can anticipate the questions that could be asked in the interview. Go over some possible job interview questions that could be asked and try to think of some very logical and convincing answers because all questions boils down to the main question of the interviewer which is “why should we hire you?” Do remember not to wash your dirty laundry in public and tell the interviewer your personal issues as it creates a bad image of you to him/her.
But question and answers play one-fifth of securing a job, so pay attention to minute details of your self image. Be sure to dress for success and groom immaculately because first impression counts. When you offer a handshake, a firm grip will convey a sense of confidence to the interviewer. And God forbid sitting sloppily, please do sit up straight for goodness sake when talking to someone.
After these key pointers on basic job interview skills, you should now send out professionally prepared resumes to clinch your first job interview!
