is there a clause that can prevent you from trading in your car?

I want to trade in my car and to prove that I’m going to keep the new vehicle for the entire length of the loan I want to know if there is a clause they can put in the contract to prevent me from trading the car in.

Prove to who? The finance company doesn’t car if you trade your car in before the loan is paid off, because they still get paid back the amount of the loan. When you trade in a car you still have a loan on, your trade in allowance goes toward the balance due on the loan and anything remaining goes toward the new vehicle. So let’s say I own a Honda Civic and I still owe $1,000 on my loan, but I want to trade it in, so the dealer tells me they will give me $2500 for my trade in. When I trade it in, $1,000 goes to pay off the remaining balance of the loan and the remaining $1,500 goes towards the purchase price of the new car. The finance company couldn’t care less if you trade it in early, as a matter of fact they get their money back sooner so its a win win, there is no benefit to you or the finance company to have a clause in the contract that prevents you from trading in your car.

If you owe more than the car is worth you will have to pay the balance due to the finance company before anyone will accept your trade, some loans let you roll the remaining balance into the new loan as long as your income is enough to meet the monthly payment amount.
