What Does Etrade Do
If I close my acct etrade that they are curently holding the stock cert, what happens to the certificates?
example, say I have stock in 3 companies , but have say 3 shares in one company, and 1000 in another company, and 1 share in the third company, do I have to pay for these certificates, thanks for your help!
okay so if I kep acct opened but want the certificates thats when I have to pay for them , correct!
I wanted to because I believe they charge a monhly fee for all accts and since I dont purchase stock all that often I cant see paying a monthly fee, or am I wrong in this
you want to close the account, not transfer to a new broker? Why? etrade only charges you when you make a trade, I suggest contacting the company(ies) that you own stock with and inquire with them, most likely if they’re larger fortune 500 companies they have some type of direct investment option and will set you up directly – they may require a stock certificate as proof of ownership which Etrade should be able to mail to you for a fee as you mention. But I question why you would actually CLOSE an account like that, I dont see the need unless you’ve become unhappy with their service, if that is the case move to another brokerage house try scott trade or td waterhouse.
